DA Import Kuku-2182: Louie

Personality:

 

Louie was born from an unfortunate, accidental litter and sold from a cardboard box at the local faire.

He was originally bought by a farmer to double as a pet and a working kukuri, but he eventually proved to not be suitable for the latter, at least not to the extent he was expected to be. While not enough to render him "crippled", his inbred status leaves him with health issues that aren't immediately visible, but which also make him not nearly as efficient and resilient as a healthy kuku. His extra pair of arms are also both a blessing and a curse when it comes to hard work.

And so he was labelled "pet quality" and put up for sale as a potential companion with farm-work training. Sadly, his owner didn't have space for a kuku with so many potential health risks and a lessened workload.

He was eventually bought by Saeder's family. With Saeder and Finch being joint at the hip and frequently running off to Death knows where in search of adventure and errands, Finch's duties as herder would sometimes go unattended. And that is how Louie came into the picture - while he would never be able to manage it all on his own, sharing the duties of herder and guard with Finch allows him to live comfortably and without risking his health so much. When not working, he's living a comfortable life as a family companion, and is sometimes lured away for little adventures with Saeder and Finch (as long as he can be sure the flock and farm will be safe while he's gone.)

Louie is a gentle, shy kukuri, who forms connections to others easily - maybe a little too easily. It doesn't take much to earn his loyalty and trust, he feels attached to anyone who acts consistently nice to him. He has a strong sense of duty and a bad habit of pushing himself too far, and he needs to be reminded of his limits often.

Most of his knowledge about The Wilds comes from stories told by Saeder and Finch.
